News Round up Friday 10th April
Happy Easter, everyone.
At least the weather is being kind to us and everywhere you look, nature is putting on its best show.
And people are doing their best too, with community spirit and positive thoughts. Here’s a fine example, embroidered in cross stitch and spotted by Bernadette in King’s Heath this morning:
There seems to be no shortage of crafty things to do at the moment to keep ourselves busy and with that in mind, the Royal School of Needlework have launched a new challenge - ‘RSN Postcard from Home’. They are asking everyone to create a postcard-sized hand-embroidered piece on the theme of ‘Home’. No actual postcard-posting is required; you can share them online or we could all bring ours to show next time we meet up. Details are here and here.
Back in 1988, the Birmingham Acorns Children’s Hospice opened for the first time and members of our branch got together to produce this wall hanging for them. By selling cards depicting the hanging the branch raised funds for the hospice.
It’s a difficult time for charities in the current climate, and we wish Acorns all the best.
Thank you to Gill for sharing this wonderful example from our Branch history.

And finally, a trip down memory lane:
