Slow stitching and May 4th at the Library

Hi everyone

At the meeting back in March, Heather brought along a basket of stitching supplies and spoke very enthusiastically (and convincingly) of the joy of adding a bit of stitching time into your day.  This is stitching for the pleasure of the process, just for you and just for the soothing relaxation.

Tips for starting your own stitch meditation:

 - Pack a little portable box or basket with small pieces of fabric (e.g.3"x 4" size), scraps of painted paper, scissors, pins and needles and a selection of threads and beads. If the basket is pre-packed it's simple to just start sewing.

 - Don't spend more than three minutes planning and don't unpick. You're doing this for relaxation, not because it's a 'project' that needs to be perfect. Remember: there is beauty in imperfection!

For more tips and inspiration take a look at this video.
If you're on Facebook there's also a Stitch Meditations  group you can join.

For more relaxation and de-stressing, join us at the Library on Saturday 4th May. Bring your little pieces of hand-stitching or just yourselves. There is always a supply of fabric and threads available.

If you can't make it to the library, our next meeeting is at Cotteridge on 13th May. The speaker will be local textile hero Emma Jackson and the raffle colour will be blue.

See you all soon!
