Sew and Share

Also in last week's meeting we re-vitalised the Sew and Share by moving it to the foyer. It's easier to see so please - don't wait until you're forced to do a 'Tale of Two Members' talk - bring in your stitching projects now - we'd love to see them.

Young Embroiderers in Birmingham

The (much) younger generation have been getting busy. Here's a report from Liz on the recent successful session with local Brownies:

As part of our Young Stitchers Outreach programme, four Guild members attended a Selly Oak Brownie unit, with the aim of introducing the girls to running stitch.  The youngsters worked on one of four animal designs that had been prepared by bondawebbing the shape to a background fabric.  They outlined their animals with contrasting thread and stitched the background to a piece of hessian.  Eyes, tails and hanging loops would complete their projects.  Good results were accomplished in one and a quarter hours and a few went home with instructions on how to finish theirs.  Thanks go to Anne, Liz, Janet M and Brenda.

Going forward, a few valuable lessons were learnt at this session, but members are confident the snags can be resolved before the February half term sessions at Bournville Community Hub. During this pilot year the Hub are kindly handling the on line registrations and the good news is that in less than 24 hours of being posted on their Facebook page, all 36 places (18 for am - 18 for pm) were ‘sold out’.

And finally...

Margaret Richards has passed on the thanks from the ladies at Anawim who were bowled over by your generosity at Christmas time. Thank you everyone for your lovely contributions.
