Goodbye to 2020!

 Hi everyone

We end 2020 with the December stitch of the month:

Clockwise from top left: Debbie’s wheatsheaf, Bernadette’s card, Angela’s beautiful landscape, Helen’s Star of Hope for 2021, Meriel’s homage to Van Gogh and Susan’s flowers (using a free swatch from John Lewis as background!)

Christmas brought a reprise of our donation to local women’s charity, Anawim, with gifts of toiletries in specially decorated bags. Thanks go to all involved in organising and contributing to this lovely gesture.

So looking to the New Year, we look forward to Liz treating us to her online talk: ‘My Textile Journey to Embroidery’ on 11th January 2021 at 7.30.

Thank you Liz for being the first member to try this traditional January fixture on Zoom. It’s sure to be excellent.

Stitch of the Month in January is Japanese stitch

For each month in 2021 we will try a stitch beginning with the same letter as the month and we’re starting with Japanese stitch. It consists of horizontal satin stitch worked in diagonal lines and is found on old Japanese screens. (See diagram below) Good luck! Post your creations on WhatsApp or email to Debbie.

Happy New Year!
