Library Saturday 2 September

We will be in our normal spot on the Mezzanine floor above the library cafe from 11 am until about 2 pm (don't forget the library does not open until 11 am although the cafe is open downstairs from 9am).  Everyone is welcome to join us to bring any stitching projects you are working on whether you need a bit of help or encouragement or just want to join in the social event and carry on with your project. We will have fabric and threads available if you want to join in, there will be a chance to add a butterfly to our beautiful Butterfly Garden.

Important information if you are travelling by bus:

If you come by bus to Broad Street please be aware that the bus is not stopping by the library, you need to get off the stop BEFORE Symphony hall. Check your bus on the journeyplanner  website.

Early Bird Membership 2017 fees

Don't forget if you want to take advantage of the £2 saving you need to renew at or before the September meeting.

Forms were attached to the email sent to all members:

The Guild have put the HQ membership up to £35 this year but if you pay your membership before 30th September you’ll only have to pay £33 for the main membership (same as last year).

Both the Branch fee and the Regional fee are staying the same as last year so paying in September means you’d face no increase if you’re with Birmingham’s branch.

The total fee to join before 30/09/2017 is £47 which can be paid at the September meeting on 11/09/2017 or by post/bank transfer to Anne by 15/09/2017 to give  time to process it all and pay HQ.

After this it is £49. The branch will not be able to offer the discount once the HQ offer has ended

Anne needs membership forms completed including the gift aid section if you pay tax and are happy for us to gift aid your fee.  It is much easier to complete the HMRC forms if the membership form is fully completed by you.

Anne will have spare copies of the form at September’s meeting and if you pay by cheque at the meeting or bank transfer by 15/09/2017 you will get the early bird discount. Obviously you can pay before then  if you are away in September.

We can’t guarantee being able to process renewals and payments after 15/09/2017 in time to get the details to HQ for the early bird discount so please pay by this date to get the discount

National Stitch Day -Butterfly Garden.

Butterfly Garden.
We had a lovely time stitching  butterflies at The Library of Birmingham. 16 members and 2 visitors stitched felt butterflies for a flower garden.
When one of our members, Sheila Yates, died, the branch got some pieces made by her and by Lily Waldron. Lily was a founder member of the branch and very active until she died a few years ago.
Among the things that we got from Sheila, was a large assortment of machine embroidered flowers that Lily had made.
Margaret Richards made these into a garden hanging to put our butterflies on.
Everyone did their own thing with the butterflies and they all look great on the garden hanging.
There is lots more scope to add more butterflies so if you want to contribute then please do, there will be butterflies available at the next meeting and at future library days.
