April Meeting and Geroge Hook

A fasinating and amusing talk by George Hook all about the Mother of Pearl Button and Jewellery making in Birmingham. A number of members said that this was not the first time they had heard George speak but were still kept interested and amused.

George told us how he is MD of the Largest Mother of Pearl company in the West Midlands, he then tried to bring this down by saying he is the only employee at the only company in the West Midlands!

We heard about the history of the company as well as the history of the business bringing it right upto date.
We were privileged to be able to pass around many items that George described and they were interesting and beautiful in their various states.

George told us that we can visit for a factory tour for open days, if you are interested here is the link: motherofpearl There is no charge and the tour lasts 60 to 90 minutes. - Do book in advance.

We had a selection of work for Show and Tell including some items going on to the exhibition which starts next week at Artrix.

some more Teabags- don't forget to bring any more in in May.

We launched Stitch of the Quarter which is Fishbone and we are looking forward to seeing lots of lovely examples next month.
