Updates from West Midlands Region

Recently, Heather attended a West Midlands Regional Committee meeting, and the below updates may be of interest to Branch Members:

CEO Road Show
Terry Murphy, the CEO of the Embroiderers' Guild, will be touring the country with his Road Show in 2014. As in 2011 and 2012, this region will be joining  together with the South West and Wales. The meeting will be held at Whitminster Village Hall on Sunday June 1 between 12.30 and 4 pm. Members may want to attend and meet with Terry to discuss any EG matters.

Chain Stitch
Hopefully members will have received a copy of the last regional newsletter, Chain Stitch, when it went out in December. This lively and interesting publication is a great opportunity to share news and events with all 15 branches in our region.

Gill Murley, the new Chain Stitch editor, is asking for any contributions for the next issue. These could be write-ups of events you have attended, upcoming events that may be of interest to other embroiderers, and any other related articles. If you have a contribution, please email it to Birminghamembroiderersguild@gmail.com by the 28th of March, and we will pass them on to Gill.

Uttoxeter Quilt and Stitch Village Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to run the Embroiderers' Guild stand at the Quilt and Stitch Village show in Uttoxeter, on the 25th-27th of April. If you are interested, please email Birminghamembroiderersguild@gmail.com, and we will pass your details on to Jane Lockley, who is organising the EG stand.

Regional Committee Vacancies
There are some vacancies on the regional committee:
  • YE Rep
  • Vice Chair
  • Area 4 Rep (Birmingham branch is in Area 3)
  • IT Rep
  • Other Members without portfolio
The regional committee meetings are a great opportunity to find out more about what is going on at a regional and national level, and don't take too much time. Meetings are currently held in Stourbridge, though they will move in September when the new chair takes up post, possibly to Lichfield, or another town in our region. Travelling expenses are also reimbursed. If you are interested in being on the committee, contact Rosemary Green, or email Birminghamembroiderersguild@gmail.com, and we will pass your details on.
