December Meeting - Members Session and Competition

We had a lovely meeting in December, with lots of chatting, home made cakes and hot mulled apple juice, and started working on our branch bunting, which we hope to finish over the Spring, to display at events.

We also had our branch Competition, on the theme of Winter Wonderland, and we had some fabulous entries.

The winning entry was this lovely picture by Marion Plumb:

Thank you to all branch members for your help in making 2013 a great year - We have had a fabulous year, and are all set for a brilliant programme full of interesting and entertaining speakers for 2014. Look out over the next few days for our review of the year, and next year's programme.

Flexagon Instructions

I said at the branch meeting last night that I'd post the instructions for making a Flexagon - they are available here:

Flexagon Instructions

I hope they are easy to follow - let me know if you get stuck, and I'd love to see any finished flexagons!

Requirements list for members session, tomorrow!

Tomorrow is our Christmas party, and as mentioned at the last meeting, we'd be grateful if everyone could bring the following, to join our group project of making some lettered bunting for the branch:

A hand sewing kit,
A piece of cotton fabric, about A5 sized, in a bright colour,
Any co-ordinating thread and embellishments

We will provide the calico backing fabric for each flag, as well as the bondaweb letters and instructions. The committee will also be bringing mince pies and cake, as well as hot mulled apple juice.

See you there!

December Come Stitch with Us at the Library of Birmingham

Having had such a great time last month, we are going to be back at the Library of Birmingham on Saturday from 11am until 2pm.

We will be on the Mezzanine floor above the library cafe from 11am until about 1pm, and we would love for you to join us. Feel free to bring any stitching projects you are working on, and we will have felt, binca and other activities for both adults and children.

For more details on how to get to the library, please see their
Visitor Guide.

To get to the mezzanine floor, just go through the main doors, turn right past the cafe counter, and then up the stairs in front of you. Alternatively, you can use the lifts to get to the Mezzanine floor; simply come in the main entrance and turn right after the cafe to get to the lift lobby.

See you there!
